Inter have reminded supporters of Andrea Ranocchia’s greatest moment in a Nerazzurri shirt after the defender turned 33 on Tuesday.

Ranocchia’s nine-year career at San Siro has been a rollercoaster of ups and downs, but he was one of Inter’s heroes in March 2011 when he helped them defeat Bayern Munich in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

Leonardo’s side overturned their first-leg deficit with a 3-2 win at the Allianz Arena, but it wouldn’t have been possible without Ranocchia somehow stopping Thomas Muller tapping into an empty net after Mario Gomez had squared the ball across goal.

UEFA tweeted a video of the remarkable incident and Inter responded by saying: “Access denied!”
