Antonio Conte boasts extraordinary numbers during his coaching career in Serie A, as highlighted by a leading Italian journalist.
Inter have the chance to open up a four-point gap over AC Milan at the top of the Serie A standings on Sunday, with the two sides set to do battle again in the Derby della Madonnina.
Ahead of this weekend’s big match, Mario Sconcerti analysed Conte’s remarkable record in Italy’s top flight between his stints at Juventus and Inter.
“This is Conte’s fifth season in Serie A during the last ten years,” Sconcerti wrote in his latest column for CalcioMercato.com.
“In total, he has coached 174 games.
“He has lost just 13, just seven percent, which is an average of about two and a half games per season.
“Every 100 times you play against Conte in Serie A, 78 times you are beaten, 15 times you draw and only 7 times do you win.”
“During Massimiliano Allegri’s five years at Juventus his percentage of defeats was 10%, which is still low but almost a third higher than Conte’s seven.
“Maurizio Sarri last year reached around 18% at Juve.
“I don’t adore Conte, often I don’t understand him, but I admire him.”
Conte took charge of Inter in the summer of 2019, succeeding Luciano Spalletti on the Nerazzurri bench.
The former Italy boss, who also had a stint in charge of Chelsea in the Premier League, has coached Inter in 85 matches across all competitions, winning 50, drawing 21 and losing 14.
Earlier this week, Conte’s former Juventus teammate Fabrizio Ravanelli credited him for Inter’s improved defensive solidity in recent games, arguing it was all down to his decision to sit deeper and hit teams on the break.
