Former Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli discussed tomorrow’s Milanese derby against AC Milan in an interview in today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

“I hope that for both of them it will be the derby of the game, of spectacle, of dragging their team-mates, of goals. They are two great team, the pitch must speak for them.”

He touched on the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 win over the Rossoneri in the Coppa Italia quarter-final last month.

“There are always arguments in football. But I think that after what happened we have to start from scratch.

“Ibra and Lukaku are two great men who must set an example. I expect them to shake hands. They are the symbol of a great city. And of two teams that are returning to top levels.”

The 65-year-old Italian spoke about what advantages the 27-year-old Lukaku has over the 39-year-old Ibrahimovic.

“Romelu is more mobile and faster, when he starts, he is a force of nature. Nobody stops him. I think Inter need him more than AC Milan need Ibra.”

The former Nerazzurri forward hoped that Lukaku would overtake him on Inter’s top scorer record.

“Sooner or later someone will have to overtake me, years ago I hoped Icardi would do it, now of course I wish this goal for Lukaku.”

He was happy that the former Manchester United and Everton striker came in to replace Mauro Icardi a few years ago.

“Icardi couldn’t have been replaced any better than that.”

Finally, Altobelli discussed which team he thinks will win tomorrow’s Milanese derby.

“The derby is a match that is a story in itself. I’m obviously rooting for Inter. I hope it will be a game like the old ones, without thinking too much about tactics.

“It will be fun and there will be plenty of goals from both sides.”

Inter are currently top of the league table after 22 games, sitting on 50 points, one ahead of Stefano Pioli’s side. Antonio Conte’s squad overtook the Rossoneri last weekend after beating Lazio 3-1, whilst AC Milan lost to Spezia 2-0.

The winner of tomorrow’s match will establish themselves at the top of the league table.
