Former Inter and AC Milan midfielder Clarence Seedorf believes that the Nerazzurri’s ability to call upon both Christian Eriksen and Arturo Vidal is a luxury for coach Antonio Conte.

Dutchman Seedorf, who represented both sides of the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and enjoyed huge success with Milan after joining them from Inter in 2002, looked ahead to today’s Derby della Madonnina.

In an interview published in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Seedorf claimed that Conte required flexibility to get the most out of midfield duo Eriksen and Vidal, whilst rotating between the two ought to be seen as an advantage.

“Being flexible is necessary for an experienced coach like Conte, especially in an important team like Inter,” the 44-year-old declared.

“I said many months ago that patience was needed with Eriksen, many great players need time to settle. Of course, the headache of having to decide between Eriksen and Vidal for each match is a luxury.”

However, Seedorf cautioned that it was too early to suggest that fellow Nerazzurri star Nicolo Barella was the best midfielder in Italy, cautioning that more time was needed for the 24-year-old to prove himself consistently.

“Barella is amongst those who are performing well, but to say that he is the best requires consistent performances across an entire season, or multiple seasons,” Seedorf concluded.

Seedorf made 93 appearances for Inter after joining from Real Madrid in 1999, before representing Milan 432 times and lifting two Scudetti and two Champions League titles.
