Inter Coach Antonio Conte Has Long History With AC Milan, Italian Media Report

With Inter set to face AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina today, Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte has seen the Diavolo feature in a number of the defining moments of his career.

Serie A league leaders Inter are just a single point ahead of Milan as the city rivals battle for the Scudetto and Conte is hoping to deliver a first league title to the club since 2010.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Juventus midfielder turned coach has plenty of history with Milan and the Rossoneri played a key role in many of the most memorable moments of his career.

Conte was a key fixture of the Juventus side that lifted the Scudetto in 1995 to bring an end to Milan’s period of dominance, after the Rossoneri had won three consecutive league titles.

However, the midfielder would enjoy no such luck when coming up against Milan in the 2003 Champions League Final as Juventus were defeated. Conte was a second half substitute but could only watch on as the Bianconeri lost 3-2 in a penalty shootout after a goalless draw.

Meanwhile, as a coach it was Conte who began Juventus’ current cycle of dominance after leading the club to the Scudetto in 2013, just one year after Milan had won their most recent title.
