Former Inter striker Aldo Serena believes the Nerazzurri were worthy winners after thrashing AC Milan 3-0 in the Derby della Madonnina today.

Antonio Conte’s side moved four points clear at the top of the Serie A table after a comprehensive victory at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, sealed through Romelu Lukaku’s goal after a Lautaro Martinez brace.

Taking to social media, Serena, who also briefly represented Milan, claimed that Inter deserved the victory and dominated the match, aside from a short spell in the second half when goalkeeper Samir Handanovic denied Rossoneri striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Serena, who lifted the Scudetto and UEFA Cup during a successful spell with Inter between 1987 and 1991, suggested that the sparkling form of strike partners Lukaku and Martinez had made the difference in the victory.

Belgium international Lukaku has now hit 17 Serie A goals this season, whilst Argentine Martinez netted his 13th for the club this campaign.

“A tough, compact and deserved victory for a team with two strikers in great form. They only struggled in the first 10 minutes of the second half and were saved by Handanovic.

“Ibrahimovic was the biggest danger until going off. [Sandro] Tonali still looks unready,” Serena tweeted after the match.
