Inter striker Romelu Lukaku and AC Milan star Zlatan Ibrahimovic have the chance to bury the hatchet in today’s Derby della Madonnina, Italian media claim.

The former Manchester United teammates engaged in a heated argument on the pitch during Inter’s 2-1 Coppa Italia Quarter-Final victory over the Rossoneri in January, with the pair having to be separated by teammates.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, today’s Serie A match is an opportunity for the pair to prevent the dispute from escalating and to show that the feud has been resolved.

Lukaku and Ibrahimovic have been urged to shake hands and avoid worsening the conflict, with former Inter captain Mauro Icardi cited as an example to avoid.

The Argentine became involved with the ex-wife of former Sampdoria teammate Maxi Lopez, leading to a bitter dispute and the pair pointedly refusing to shake hands before kick-off during a Serie A clash in 2016.

Similarly, Manchester City’s Wayne Bridge refused to shake the hand of former Chelsea teammate John Terry after the latter was accused of having an affair with Bridge’s wife.
