Inter could be set for a transfer battle with AC Milan over Lille forward Jonathan Ikone, according to an Italian media report.

Calciomercato.com said the Nerazzurri had joined their city rivals in monitoring the talented 22-year-old, who is valued at around €30 million.

Ikone’s age and skills set make him an ideal profile for AC Milan’s project under Elliott, but Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are also considering a move.

But the report reminded readers that Inter’s current off-field problems remained an unknown quantity, which could cause issues in their pursuit for Ikone.

Ikone is described as the perfect man to play on the right-hand side of a 4-2-3-1 formation, although he can play on the opposite flank too.

He has scored three goals in Ligue 1 and three in the UEFA Europa League this season, impressing during Lille’s 3-0 win against AC Milan at San Siro in November.

Ikone made four appearances for France during their UEFA Euro 2020 qualifying campaign, including one start against Andorra in October 2019.
