Inter legend Walter Zenga has sung Antonio Conte’s praises for keeping his players united following the Nerazzurri’s disappointing exit from the UEFA Champions League.

Inter went four points clear at the top of Serie A yesterday with a 3-0 win over AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina.

Conte’s side have responded emphatically to their European disappointment before Christmas, which saw them finish bottom of their group against all expectations.

“Conte has done well to unite the group and follow a certain path after Inter’s elimination in the Champions League,” Zenga explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Italia 1 television show ‘Pressing’ today.

Zenga, who is one of the Nerazzurri’s greatest ever goalkeepers, then went on to admit that Inter have to win the Serie A title and tipped them to do just that.

“For a number of reasons, Conte is now forced to win the league title and he will win it,” the Uomo Ragno assured.

“Inter are shooting towards the Scudetto and not having midweek commitments is very important.”

Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku were on target for Inter on Sunday as they crushed their city rivals in the most important Milan derby for a decade.

Conte’s side will return to league action this coming weekend when they welcome Genoa to San Siro.
