Inter’s triumph in the Milan derby could have a positive effect on their talks to sell the club, according to a report in the Italian media.
Antonio Conte’s side are on course to win the club’s first Serie A title in 11 years after crushing AC Milan 3-0 at San Siro yesterday.
La Repubblica’s print edition suggested the Nerazzurri’s form at the top of the table could persuade BC Partners to increase their offer to Suning.
The British-based firm have offered €750 million for Inter so far, but they might decide Inter are worth more if they are convinced they are destined to win the Scudetto.
Suning are not willing to accept such a low offer for the club, reportedly considering Inter to be worth around €1 billion.
Steven Zhang reportedly remains hopeful in any case that Suning do not have to sell at all, with the club president reportedly hoping to secure a short-term loan instead to help Inter cover costs.
La Repubblica’s report claimed Inter would earn an extra €30 million if they won the Scudetto, split between TV rights, UEFA’s market pool and bonuses from sponsorship deals.
This would be a huge help to Suning during their most difficult period since buying the club in 2016.
Earlier today, Inter’s outgoing chief financial officer Tim Williams confirmed that Suning were seeking ‘financial partners’ to help the club with their economic problems.
