Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are Inter’s most prolific strike partnership for more than 60 years, an Italian media report highlighted today.

Both found the net during Sunday’s 3-0 win over AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina, which took the Nerazzurri four points clear at the top of Serie A.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition reported that only four strike partnerships in Inter’s history had scored more collectively than Lukaku and Lautaro after 23 league games.

The most recent pairing to beat Lu-La’s tally was Antoni Valentin Angelillo and Eddie Firmani way back in the 1958-59 season.

Lukaku and Lautaro have scored 30 league goals for Antonio Conte’s side this season, with 17 for the Belgian and 13 for El Toro.

GdS also pointed out that Lukaku had become the first player in Inter’s history to score in each of his first five Milan derbies, after the 27-year-old’s magnificent solo effort to net their third at San Siro.
