Inter’s former defender Massimo Paganin has praised the Nerazzurri for responding well to their elimination from the Coppa Italia.

Antonio Conte’s side have followed up their semi-final exit at the hands of Juventus with consecutive wins in Serie A against Lazio and AC Milan.

Sunday’s emphatic win took the Nerazzurri four points clear of their city rivals at the top of the table after matchday 23.

“Inter have the best attack ever and also the best defence,” Paganin remarked in an interview with Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb’s radio station TMW Radio.

“The feeling you get when you look at them is that they are in shape, they have not suffered the psychological backlash of their knockout from the Coppa Italia.

“Inter were able to suffer against Lazio and AC Milan but then dominated them.”

Paganin proceeded to go on and sing the praises of the revitalised Christian Eriksen, whose form has improved drastically of late and again impressed against Stefano Pioli’s side.

“He has great quality and has incredible technical skills,” Paganin explained.

“Eriksen can read the play well and Inter plays with a double playmaker now.

“The qualities have always been there.

“Conte wanted something from him and he was not 100 hundred percent convinced.

“Now Eriksen has adapted, he is carving out his space and Conte is giving him the right responsibilities.

“You can see that he is a confident player who knows how to help the team in difficult moments.”

In conclusion Paganin spoke on who can fight Inter for the Serie A title in what remains of the 2020-21 season.

“Who can fight Inter? Juventus as a squad are even stronger than Inter, so they are there, but they are having problems this year.

“Appointing Andrea Pirlo was a gamble and he has struggled to find the ideal team.

“So much will depend on the others behind as many will be involved in Europe, while Inter are out of Europe and are able to prepare for matches in the best possible way.”

Inter return to league action on Sunday when they welcome in-form Genoa to San Siro.
