Ahead of former club Genoa’s match against Inter in Serie A tomorrow, Hellas Verona midfielder Miguel Veloso has tipped the Nerazzurri to win the Scudetto this season.

Inter currently sit four points clear at the top of the table after thrashing closest rivals AC Milan 3-0 in the Derby della Madonnina last weekend, and look to maintain their charge for the title against Genoa tomorrow.

In an interview in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, Portuguese international Veloso gave his predictions for the remainder of the season, suggesting that compatriot and Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo would win the Capocannoniere crown as top scorer, but Inter would be champions.

Meanwhile, the Verona man admitted that Juventus faced an uphill struggle to win the league and overturn a 2-0 defeat to Porto in the Champions League.

“I would like Cristiano to win the Champions League and the Scudetto with the Bianconeri, but it appears to be difficult for them this year, unless he has a magical night [against Porto],” the 34-year-old declared.

“I have no doubts that he will be recognised as one of the greatest strikers of all time, I am 100% sure of that. Porto are a tough team and it is in their DNA, just like their coach Sergio Conceicao. I think the Portuguese will qualify.

“Regardless though, Bayern Munich are the favourites overall, they have a higher intensity that anyone else and can repeat their success of 2020.”

Veloso, who represented Genoa across two spells, most recently from 2016 to 2019, assessed the domestic situation in Serie A and insisted that Inter would wrap up the title, ahead of their match against the Grifone tomorrow.

“Even in Italy Juventus’ chances are low and I think Inter will be crowned champions,” the former Dynamo Kiev midfielder concluded.
