Inter Legend Javier Zanetti To Represent Club’s Board Of Directors Against Genoa, Italian Media Suggest

Inter will be represented at director level by former captain Javier Zanetti when they welcome Genoa to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Serie A tomorrow.

The league leaders look to maintain or extend their four point gap at the top when they take on the Grifone, building on last weekend’s stunning 3-0 win over AC Milan.

However, as reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, an outbreak of COVID-19 behind the scenes has prevented a number of the club’s directors from being able to attend the match.

With Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio and Alessandro Antonello set for a period of self-isolation, former right-back and current vice-president Zanetti will represent Inter at boardroom level.

The Argentine has been in the post since retiring in 2014 and will lead the official responsibilities usually carried out by his colleagues.

Zanetti joined Inter from from Banfield in 1995 and went on to make 858 appearances for the Nerazzurri, lifting the Champions League and five Scudetti.
