Former Napoli Midfielder Francesco Montervino: “Juventus Are Inter’s Biggest Threat For The Scudetto”

Salernitana sporting director and former Napoli midfielder Francesco Montervino believes that Inter’s greatest challenge to win the Scudetto will come from Juventus.

Antonio Conte’s side currently sit four points clear of AC Milan at the top of the table after thrashing the Rossoneri 3-0 last weekend, whilst Juventus sit a further point behind.

In an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.com yesterday, Montervino claimed that Inter had the best team and the easier run in of fixtures, but that it was Juventus and not second-placed Milan that would prove the biggest threat for the title.

“Milan currently have more points, but it is the Bianconeri that have taught us that when they are cornered they also manage to find a way to wriggle out,” the 42-year-old claimed.

“In my opinion, Inter have the slightly better path, with an easier task from now until the end of the season. For me, they are always the strongest, but we know that Juve never give up and in my opinion they are the real threat, more so than Milan.”

Inter are currently on course for a first Serie A title since 2010, and hope to continue their push for the Scudetto when they welcome Genoa to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza later today.

Taranto-born Montervino made 142 appearances for Napoli across two spells with the club, scoring six goals and helping the Partenopei to the Serie C1 title in 2006.
