Italian Journalist Ivan Zazzaroni: “Inter Winning The Scudetto Would Not Constitute Incredible Season”

Even a first Scudetto win since 2010 would not be enough to mark the season as an incredible one for Inter, according to journalist Ivan Zazzaroni.

Antonio Conte’s side are currently on course to lift the Serie A title for the first time in over a decade as they sit four points clear at the top of the table with 15 matches remaining.

However, Zazzaroni insisted that despite Inter battling against factors off the pitch, with financial uncertainty and discussions over a takeover of the club, a title challenge was the minimum that the Nerazzurri ought to be targeting every season.

Speaking on Italian radio station Radio Deejay yesterday, the journalist claimed that a title win this term could not be compared to the treble of 2010, whilst also pointing to elimination at the Group Stage of the Champions League as a mark against the current team.

“Inter have been stronger since we learned about the club’s financial difficulties. A Scudetto win would not make this an incredible season, we must not use hyperbole,” Zazzaroni insisted.

“When they won the treble it was incredible and a great season, but not winning the league is considered a failure. This season they are also out of the Champions League and didn’t even get into the Europa League,” he concluded.
