Inter chief executive Beppe Marotta is playing a pivotal role in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A title chase, according to an Italian media report today.
As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s online edition, Marotta’s work was fundamental in keeping Antonio Conte at the club in between the end of last season and start of this season.
His management of the Lautaro Martinez saga last summer, when El Toro was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona, was also pivotal, helping the forward stay focused at Inter.
Marotta also did well to protect Inter upon their disappointing elimination from the UEFA Champions League, as well as using his diplomacy during January when Christian Eriksen appeared set to depart.
Now thanks to Antonio Conte and his work, Eriksen has finally become an important player for Inter over the past few weeks.
In short, Marotta’s actions have helped Inter to get to where they are and amid a time of great uncertainty at corporate level.
Marotta, who also played a key role in the signings of Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi, has been able to keep things in check despite a lot off-field turmoil and this is why he is proving essential for the Nerazzurri.
