Inter wanted to sign Atalanta wing-back Robin Gosens last summer, according to an Italian media report today.

As per CalcioMercato.com, the Nerazzurri made an attempt to secure the German’s services following his stellar season in Bergamo, with Antonio Conte said to be a very big fan.

Inter offered Atalanta a loan deal with an obligation to buy pending certain conditions, but Atalanta were not in the slightest bit open to doing a deal on such terms.

The Nerazzurri are not alone in having shown an interest in Gosens, with the report adding that Juventus made a failed attempt to lure the 26-year-old to Turin in January.

Juventus will reportedly try to sign Gosens again but there is also competition from Manchester City in the Premier League.

Gosens, who is under contract with Atalanta until the end of next season, has made 30 appearances for Gian Piero Gasperini’s side this season, scoring his ninth goal of the campaign in Sunday’s 2-0 win at Sampdoria.

He has also provided six assists in all competitions.
