Inter have taken flight in Serie A and are on course to win the Scudetto, at least according to the Nerazzurri’s former midfielder Francesco Moriero.

Antonio Conte’s side are currently sitting top of the standings with a four-point advantage over second-placed AC Milan, with 14 games still to play.

Inter have broken clear of their title rivals with a spectacular run of form, winning 14 of their last 17 league games since drawing at Atalanta in November.

“Inter have taken off and I am pleased,” Moriero, who played for Inter between 1997 and 2000, told TuttoMercatoWeb.

“They are a compact team, they are united.”

Moriero, who scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 83 appearances for the club, then went on to admit he was bullish about his former team’s chances of winning a first league title since 2010.

“I believe Inter can win the Scudetto, I have always believed that,” he said.

“Credit must be given to AC Milan though for the extraordinary season they are having.”

Inter are next in action tomorrow night away to Parma, who they drew 2-2 with earlier on in the season.

Conte’s side are favourites to win on paper but the Nerazzurri boss is very wary of the threat posed by the Ducali, as he discussed in this afternoon’s pre-match press conference.
