Nicolo Barella will soon put pen to paper on a new and improved contract with Inter, according to an Italian media report today.
As per Tuttosport’s print edition, Barella’s current deal expires in 2024 and he will extend his contract with the Nerazzurri by one or not two seasons.
The midfielder will earn a similar salary to the one Lautaro Martinez is due in his new deal, or rather €4.5 million a year.
Barella is also set to become Inter’s next captain when Samir Handanovic leaves or is replaced in the side by another goalkeeper.
The 24-year-old has made 34 appearances in all competitions for Inter this season, scoring three goals and providing 10 assists.
He will look to add to his tally tomorrow when Antonio Conte’s side face struggling Parma at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
Barella was hailed earlier this week by former AC Milan and Juventus coach Fabio Capello as one of Europe’s three best midfielders.
