Incoming Marseille coach Jorge Sampaoli would like Arturo Vidal to join him at the Stade Velodrome, according to a French media report.

Sampaoli coached Vidal when in charge of the Chilean national team a few years ago and he would like to bring in the Inter midfielder as one of his first reinforcements, according to Le10Sport.com.

Vidal joined Inter from Barcelona last summer and was virtually ever present up until a few weeks ago, but now he has fallen down the pecking order after the re-emergence of Christian Eriksen.

The report goes on to explain that the former Bayern Munich player could therefore opt to join his former coach in France in order to kick-start his career again.

Vidal, who is under contract with Inter until the end of next season with an option to extend for a further year, has made 29 appearances across all competitions this season.

The 33-year-old has scored two goals for Antonio Conte’s side, providing two assists as well.
