Bologna coach and former Inter defender Sinisa Mihajlovic reflected on his time at the club, claiming that a change in mentality brought long-awaited success.

The Serbian joined Inter from Lazio in 2004 and went on to win the Serie A title in 2006, as well as the Coppa Italia in both seasons at the club under coach Roberto Mancini.

Whilst Mihajlovic retired in 2006, Inter would go on to enjoy a period of dominance in which they won five league titles and culminated in a treble victory in 2010.

“When we were at Inter, before Mancini came, it was always said that Inter had a great team but never won anything,” the Bologna coached declared in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Rossoblu’s Serie A match against Napoli, as reported by Tuttomercatoweb.com.

“Then with the arrival of Mancini, Mihajlovic and others there was a change. Here we cannot use certain players and we have to work on the mentality but it takes a long time.

“We can be strong physically, technically and with temperament, but without mental strength everything else is worth little. It takes time and patience.”

Mihajlovic made 43 appearances for Inter across his two seasons at the club, scoring six goals.

Since taking over Bologna in 2019, the former Yugoslavia international has led the Rossoblu to 30 victories from 84 matches and they currently sit 12th in Serie A.
