Inter coach Antonio Conte will see his salary at the club increase as he goes into the final year of his contract next season.

The former Chelsea coach has a year remaining on the €12 million per season deal signed upon replacing Luciano Spalletti in 2019, making him the highest paid coach in Serie A.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, that figure is set to increase in the third and final year of Conte’s contract, with the former Juventus tactician set to earn €13.5m net.

However, this figure is not considered to be sustainable following heavy revenue losses due to the coronavirus pandemic, whilst Inter owners Suning are continuing to negotiate over the sale of the club due in part to mounting debts.

Despite this, Conte is not expected to be able to find an alternative position within the top European leagues that would offer such wages, even in the Premier League, and his focus is on building a project at the Inter with a view to longer term success.

This has been demonstrated by work being put in place to offer new contracts to key players within the squad, including Lautaro Martinez and Alessandro Bastoni.
