Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has been praised for his selfless play up front for the Nerazzurri this season by Italian media, as the Belgian’s goals and assists tally continues to rise.

The former Manchester United forward has netted 18 goals this season and despite failing to score in Inter’s 2-1 win over Parma on Thursday, laid on an assist for Alexis Sanchez.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku’s pass for the Chilean took his assist tally to seven and his involvement in goals this term to 25, with only Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski boasting a better record at 34.

Lukaku was praised by the newspaper for his altruistic style of play in attack, as well as his consistency and ability to drive Inter on to victory.

Domestically, Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been involved in 23 goals and Atalanta striker Luis Muriel comes in third with 21. Lukaku’s Inter strike partner Lautaro Martinez is fourth meanwhile, with his 13 goals and five assists seeing him involved in 18 goals.

On the European stage, Bruno Fernandes and Harry Kane, of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur respectively, are level with Lukaku, whilst Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe trails by one.

Barcelona star Lionel Messi comes in at sixth, having scored 19 goals and provided four assists this season.
