The return to form of forward Alexis Sanchez is an additional weapon in Inter’s armoury as they target the Serie A title, Italian media suggest.

Chile international Sanchez has struggled for consistency since joining Inter on a free transfer from Manchester United last summer, having spent the previous season on loan at the club.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, Sanchez has now hit five goals this season after scoring twice in the 2-1 win over Parma on Thursday, as well as laying on as many assists, and is continuing to impress.

The 32-year-old was likened to a lion being released from a cage by the newspaper, although enthusiasm has been dampened by suggestions that Sanchez will return to the bench for Monday evening’s match against Atalanta at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

However, his performance against Parma has been taken as an encouraging sign that he can play a significant role in Inter’s challenge for the Scudetto, with the Nerazzurri currently six points clear at the top of the table.
