Samir Handanovic is confident Inter are on the right path to winning the Scudetto after beating Atalanta tonight.

A second-half strike from central defender Milan Skriniar helped the Nerazzurri to a 1-0 win in what was a tough match and Antonio Conte’s men are once again six points clear at the top of the Serie A standings with 12 games to spare.

Handanovic discussed the key victory pitch-side following the final whistle.

“We expected a difficult match, Atalanta are an excellent team and they are showing it,” Handanovic remarked in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s OK to win playing like this, we’re on the right path.”

The veteran Slovenian shot-stopper was asked whether he and his teammates have now learned how to win such games.

“The small details are what make the difference in games,” he explained.

“They hit us twice in the first half and we did well not to concede.

“It was a tough game, the important thing was not to lose points because other teams will have to face Atalanta.”

The former Udinese goalkeeper, who has been with the club for close to a decade now, was asked whether he will remember the saves he made in this match come the end of the season.

“Everything starts from the daily training,” Handanovic said.

“We now have a week to correct our mistakes and better prepare for the upcoming matches, playing every three days was not possible.

“The elimination from Europe wounded us on one hand but on the other it has allowed us to prepare better.”

In conclusion Handanovic was quizzed on what Inter need to do if they wish to win a first Serie A title since the 2009-10 season.

“You have to know how to win games, dribble when you need to and suffer when you need to.

“Every match is different.”
