Diego Milito has poured his heart out to Inter supporters tonight after they elected him to be inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame.

Milito is regarded as one of the greatest strikers’ in Inter’s history, having scored both goals in the 2010 UEFA Champions League final against Bayern Munich.

El Principe was overcome with emotion as he spoke to Inter TV in a special ceremony on the club’s 113th birthday today.

Following a montage which showed some of Milito’s best moments at Inter, he said: “It’s still incredible to look at this footage, difficult to put into words.

“A lot of years have passed but the emotions are still there.

“It’s a special day for me: I was listening to the names like Sandro Mazzola, Ronaldo… it’s marvellous for me to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

“It’s a real source of pride and I must thank all the fans to have let me enter this special Hall of Fame.

“I’m getting emotional because it’s incredible to be next to the great legends of this club.”

Asked for his favourite goal scored in an Inter shirt, Milito added: “I was fortunate enough to score beautiful and important goals, for Inter and for me.

“To be quick I’d say the goals in the Champions League final, more the second than the first.”

Milito was also asked for the most special trophy he won while at Inter, aside from the Champions League at the Santiago Bernabeu.

“Every trophy has a special taste for me but I’d say the Scudetto because it was a very hard-fought one, right until the end.

“At one point we could have lost our dream of winning it when Roma overtook us, we ended up playing for the title on the final day of the season and it was an incredible struggle.

“It was difficult to win and for me that 2009-10 league title has an incredible value.”

Milito was not the only Inter legend to enter the Hall of Fame tonight, with Esteban Cambiasso, Beppe Bergomi and Julio Cesar all joining as well.

Inter held the event at Inter HQ, just 24 hours after their crucial victory in Serie A against Atalanta.
