Stefan de Vrij admits Inter’s win over Atalanta is incredibly satisfying and praised his teammates’ fighting spirit.

Antonio Conte’s side dug out a huge three points at San Siro on Monday courtesy of a second-half goal from Milan Skriniar.

Inter are now once again six points clear of AC Milan at the top of the table, with 12 games left.

“We knew how Atalanta play, they like to play one-on-one and are used to battles, therefore this result gives us a lot of satisfaction,” De Vrij told Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV, following the full-time whistle in Milan.

The Dutch national team player went on to discuss the team’s high concentration levels.

“I think concentration is very important for us players and for the team.

“We have improved a lot in this respect and you can see how we play and defend, as well as how we play as a team.”

Former Lazio player De Vrij then praised the team effort and shared his belief that the fact everyone gets stuck in is one of the team’s strengths.

“I think everyone tries to lend a hand to the team.

“This is our strength.

“There is great spirit and desire to win.

“We always want to show it and things are going well.”

In conclusion De Vrij was asked about Inter’s great success rate in big matches this season and was also asked how the team deal with the pressure that they are under.

“We knew the importance of this match against a great team, it was very important to get a result even if we suffered a lot, we are happy to have obtained the victory.

“How do we manage the pressure? We think game by game and focus on the next one.

“We don’t look too far ahead because it’s only the next game that counts.”

Inter’s next match will be away to struggling Torino at the weekend.
