Inter have a strong interest in signing Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, according to an Italian broadcaster’s report today.

As per Sportitalia, the Dutch national team representative is one of the most sought-after players ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, at which point he will be a free agent.

Wijnaldum’s contract with the reigning Premier League champions is due to expire at the end of the season and it appears that Inter are strongly interested in adding the 30-year-old to their ranks.

Inter coach Antonio Conte would be able to add a quality player with a great deal of experience to his midfield department without needing to open up the cheque book and pay a hefty transfer fee.

This season the former Feyenoord player, who has also drawn links to both Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona, has made 38 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored three goals.

Wijnaldum was quizzed on his future by reporters during a press conference today, ahead of Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League last 16 second leg against RB Leipzig.

But he told them there was still no news on his future.
