Julio Cesar says Inter will always be part of his and his family’s life, after being inducted into the Nerazzurri’s Hall of Fame.
Cesar was one of four legends who officially joined the special club tonight, in a ceremony Inter held to celebrate the club’s 113th birthday.
Esteban Cambiasso, Diego Milito and Beppe Bergomi were also chosen by supporters in a poll last year, but they had to wait until tonight for everything to become official.
Speaking to Inter TV during the awards ceremony, Cesar said: “It’s always a pleasure to be part of these events.
“Everyone knows Inter will be part of my history, but also my whole family’s history.
“I’m feeling nostalgic seeing all these trophies again, it’s normal.”
Asked which trophy he valued the most in his heart, Cesar added: “The Champions League is the Champions League, but you never forget your first title.
“So for that reason I’ll say the 2005 Supercoppa Italiana.
“I was the second goalkeeper behind Francesco Toldo and even then I felt the importance of securing a trophy for this great club.
“It was a very beautiful thing, a trophy we won against a very strong team in Juventus, in Turin.
“I immediately realised I’d joined a beautiful club and that there was a lot to win.
“People said Inter built good teams and never won, but then Calciopoli exploded.
“I have to thank the fans who voted for me to enter the Hall of Fame and I thank Inter for everything.
“If today I’m a well-known person it’s because Inter gave me a great hand.”
Cesar joined Inter via Chievo Verona in the summer of 2005 and went on to make 300 appearances for the Nerazzurri in all competitions.
During his time at the club, which ended in 2012 when he joined Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League, Cesar won five Serie A titles and one UEFA Champions League title.
He also won the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup, along with three Coppa Italia triumphs and four Supercoppa Italiana trophies.
