Roma are planning on handing Gianluca Mancini a new contract in a bid to deter the interest of both Inter and Juventus in the defender, according to an Italian media report today.

La Repubblica report that Roma owner Dan Friedkin has told Giallorossi sporting director Tiago Pinto to give the Italian international an improved contract to the one he is currently on.

Mancini, who formerly played for Atalanta, is already under contract with the Italian capital city club through to the end of the 2023-24 season and earns €2 million per season.

Mancini has been linked with Inter on and off for years now, with the Nerazzurri even having been linked with him while he was at Atalanta.

The 24-year-old, who joined Roma back in the summer of 2019, has made 26 appearances across all competitions this season, in which he has scored four goals and provided his teammates at the Stadio Olimpico with two assists.
