Samir Handanovic played a vital role in securing Inter victory against Atalanta last night, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Corriere dello Sport’s print edition rated the Slovenian goalkeeper 7/10 for his performance at San Siro, which helped the Nerazzurri re-establish their six-point lead at the top of Serie A.
Handanovic was credited with three key moments in the match, denying Duvan Zapata before half-time and then Luis Muriel in the second half.
“To think people were criticising him,” the Rome-based paper wrote.
“Once again he saved the result for Inter with a great save.
“These three points belong to him in a very large part.”
Milan Skriniar’s winning goal earned him 7/10 alongside Handanovic, making them Inter’s joint best players on the night.
Stefan de Vrij, Alessandro Bastoni, Marcelo Brozovic, Christian Eriksen and Romelu Lukaku were all meanwhile rated 6.5/10.
Nicolo Barella, Ivan Perisic and Lautaro Martinez were all rated 6/10 while the worst performances on the night came from Achraf Hakimi, who was not his usual self, and Arturo Vidal, who did not perform how Inter coach Antonio Conte hoped he would have.
Hakimi and Vidal both got 5.5/10, while Conte got 7/10 after a performance where his side displayed great character and defensive strength.
