Stefan de Vrij and Christian Eriksen both delivered when it mattered for Inter against Atalanta, according to a report in the Italian media.
Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition unsurprisingly rated Milan Skriniar as the Nerazzurri’s best performer at San Siro, scoring the match-winner and Samir Handanovic at 7/10.
They were also effusive in their praise for the Dutch and Dane internationals however, giving both ratings of 6.5/10.
On De Vrij, the Milan-based paper said: “This was one of those games in which you understand the importance of having a centre-back like that who can organise the defence.
“He intervened at the right moment and went forward only when Inter needed an extra man.
“De Vrij was always humble and concentrated.”
Eriksen outshone Arturo Vidal with his substitute appearance, meanwhile, with Gazzetta adding: “He’s become a new player.
“He’s a mezzala-trequartista type who sacrificed himself with decisive clearances and inspired Inter’s attacking play.”
Alessandro Bastoni and Nicolo Barella also received ratings of 6.5/10 for their displays against Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, along with Inter boss Antonio Conte himself.
Romelu Lukaku, Marcelo Brozovic, Achraf Hakimi and Ivan Perisic all took 6/10, while Lautaro Martinez was rather harshly awarded 5.5/10 despite his crucial defensive work.
Arturo Vidal was Inter’s lowest-rated player, taking 5/10 as the Chilean was subbed off at half-time.
Alexis Sanchez and Roberto Gagliardini didn’t get a score from Gazzetta.
