Inter’s exceptional team spirit under Antonio Conte was personified by Danilo D’Ambrosio on Monday, a report in the Italian media argued today.

FcInter1908.it highlighted how Conte was at pains after the win against Atalanta to praise the attitude of those players who had enjoyed minimal game time lately.

Andrea Ranocchia, Roberto Gagliardini, Matias Vecino, Aleksandar Kolarov, Stefano Sensi and Andrea Pinamonti were all mentioned by name in his post-game interview, along with Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian.

But D’Ambrosio was held up by this report as the greatest example of how Inter’s fringe players are dedicated to the cause, following his cameo appearance at San Siro.

The former Torino defender was a key figure in Conte’s side last season after football returned post-lockdown, as well as at the beginning of the current campaign.

He then picked up a knee injury during Inter’s defeat at Sampdora and spent a month on the sidelines, returning at the start of February to be an unused substitute on three occasions.

D’Ambrosio only played six minutes against Atalanta but he made sure he put his experience and attitude to good use for Inter, as Conte’s side held onto their 1-0 lead.

Conte knows he will need a contribution from everyone during Inter’s Serie A title run-in, FCIN1908 said, and has made sure everyone – even those who are hardly playing, such as Gagliardini who spoke earlier today – are ready to give their all when needed.

D’Ambrosio has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Nerazzurri this season, scoring three goals.
