Romelu Lukaku has thanked Inter for helping him reach the best mental and physical form of his career.

The Belgian striker has been in scintillating form for the Nerazzurri ever since joining from Manchester United in 2019, having scored 58 goals in 84 appearances.

Speaking in a podcast interview released by Inter today, Lukaku revealed he had changed his diet since joining Inter and said it was key to his upturn in fortunes.

“Every country has its own dietary regimes, but Italy has brought me to another level,” the 27-year-old explained.

“I’ve never felt this strong, I’ve reached another level physically and mentally.

“Since I’ve been at Inter we’ve analysed my body and a lot has changed: I eat a lot of salad and fish, which is having a great effect on me.

“I like eating things with carnitine in, it makes me feel good, and I have vitamins.

“My diet consists of salad for lunch, lots of chicken breast and shirataki pasta.

“I don’t change my eating habits much, we need to have a very strong physique as we run a lot.

“Ever since I’ve followed this style of life I feel better on the pitch, I feel more reactive and faster.

“I love sweet potatoes and black rice as well, but I don’t eat much pasta.”

Lukaku was not on target for Inter in their most recent Serie A match, when Antonio Conte’s side beat Atalanta 1-0 at San Siro on Monday.

He did prove decisive in the match before that, however, providing both assists for Alexis Sanchez to secure the Nerazzurri victory at Parma.

Lukaku has been on a yellow card warning for four games now but he has managed to avoid picking up a suspension so far.

He will therefore be available for Inter once again when they visit Torino on Sunday.
