Sporting CP are determined to sign Joao Mario on a permanent basis from Inter, according to an Italian media report today.

As per Tuttosport’s print edition, the Liga NOS leaders made an offer worth €7 million – although other reports have denied this – but Inter rejected the bid because it would not be enough to ensure them a capital gain on the midfielder.

Joao Mario will have a value of exactly €7 million against the club’s books in the summer, with one report yesterday explaining that the Nerazzurri are looking to make a significant profit.

The Turin-based publication went on to explain that Sporting CP really want to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent basis, and from this point on it cannot be excluded that there will be talks with Inter which will bear fruit in the summer.

During his loan stint with the Portuguese giants, Joao Mario, who is contracted to Inter until the end of next season, has made two goals and two assists in 24 appearances.
