Former Inter right-back Jocelyn Angloma is confident that the Nerazzurri can hold off the challenge of Juventus to claim the Scudetto this season.

Antonio Conte’s side sit six points clear of AC Milan at the top of the table and a further four ahead of Juventus, although the Bianconeri have a game in hand.

Looking ahead to today’s Serie A meeting between Inter and another of his former clubs, Torino, declared that the Nerazzurri had impressed him and he was optimistic that they could win the league.

“Conte has had time to make his players understand what he wants from them. Now when I see the Nerazzurri playing I notice a solid team defensively, with two very strong forwards,” the former France and Guadeloupe international claimed in an interview published in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport.

“Juve always remain Juve. Things don’t change because they received a beating on the head with the Champions League elimination [against Porto on Tuesday]. Inter, however, have a considerable advantage. I don’t think they’ll let the title escape.”

Angloma joined Inter from Torino in 1996 and remained at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza for a single season before moving on to Valencia. His sole campaign at the Nerazzurri saw the club reach the UEFA Cup Final, only to suffer defeat to Schalke in a penalty shootout after each team won their home leg 1-0.

“My first memory of Inter is of [Massimo] Moratti, a great president and a respectable person. He created a strong squad, made up of great players. I was at the Nerazzurri during a ‘great’ year as you all say. It’s just a pity we couldn’t win anything.

“We lacked a bit of luck and confidence. We lost the first leg of the UEFA Cup Final against Schalke and it was fatal, despite the victory in the second leg. We missed too many opportunities and in the end it was the Germans celebrating after the penalties. I remain convinced we were superior,” Angloma reflected.
