Inter’s Italian international defender Alessandro Bastoni has revealed that the Nerazzurri were aware of the difficulties going into the match against Torino.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Inter TV moments after the match, the former Atalanta player underlined that the difference between this season and previous one is that the Nerazzurri have learned to win difficult matches.
“We knew if the difficulties that we would encounter because Torino have shown to be difficult to play. There was a lot of unknown things going into the match, we knew this.
“The difference is that maybe last season we would have had difficulties that this season we are able to resolve. This past week we have tried many different solutions to put them in difficulty.
“They are a defensive team but we were really good to get back into it after they equalized.”
Alessandro Bastoni was asked to explain what happened when Torino equalized but was unable to because he was on the floor in a situation where Inter were unhappy with the refereeing decision to allow the goal.
“To be honest I didn’t understand it either because I feel to the floor after having headed the ball and two of my teammates were also on the floor.
“It was a fortuitous goal, they surprised us on a set piece, where they are very strong.”
Bastoni then concluded the interview by looking forward to the upcoming match in the Serie A at home at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan’s San Siro district against Sassuolo.
“We are aware of Sassuolo’s qualities, it is a team that meet you higher up than Torino do. It could maybe be an easier match for us than Torino were, but they are very good.
“They drew Napoli last week, and we have to be very careful.”
The 21 year old Italian central defender signed for Inter in the summer of 2017 in a deal worth reportedly €31 million and has since then featured 65 matches across all competitions scoring 3 goals in the process.
