Inter’s Argentinian international striker Lautaro Martinez was very happy after the 2-1 win away against Torino, where he scored the winning goal which secured the Nerazzurri’s 8th consecutive win in the Serie A.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Inter TV after the match, the former Racing Avellanada man underlined the importance of having won the match by showing character.

“Yes, we are talking about three points we came looking for with force, fighting until the end. We played with heart and character, the Granata are in a difficult moment.

“But just like them we are also always looking to win points. I am happy for my teammates and for the fans who follow us from their homes.

“They needed to win points, this is very important. We played our match, build on the work we did during the past week. Our will is to continue staying where we are in the league.”

Lautaro was asked about why he thinks he scores so often against the Granata given that this was the 4th consecutive match in the Serie A where he scored against them, a goal which meant he equaled his career record set last season of having scored 14 league goals.

“Today I managed to score an important goal, but the most important thing is that Inter wins, irrespective of who scores. Scoring and winning gives you a double satisfaction.

“I’m happy about the work I am doing here, both for myself and for Inter. My intention is to continue working like this day after day, with humility until the end.

“We want to continue to be at the top, above everyone.”

In conclusion the Argentinian revealed that the win today was not just important for the points but for the message it sent out to the rest of the chasing pack in the race to win the Scudetto.

“Today it was very important to win. We found ourselves in a difficult match and we are growing from every aspect.”

Lautaro Martinez signed for Inter in the summer of 2018 in a deal worth reportedly €22.7 million and has since then featured 120 times for the Nerazzurri scoring 46 goals in the process.
