Inter are Serie A’s most prolific team by some distance in second halves of matches this season, as highlighted by a report in the Italian media.

The Nerazzurri had to wait until the final half-hour of yesterday’s game at Torino to secure a 2-1 win, courtesy of a Romelu Lukaku penalty and Lautaro Martinez header.

Antonio Conte’s side have scored a league-high 65 goals in 27 games this season and TuttoMercatoWeb have noted today that no fewer than 45 of these have been scored after half-time.

This is equivalent to 69% of Inter’s goals, underlining how they are always capable of moving through the gears when the going gets tough.

This is still not the highest average in Serie A, because Inter’s next opponents Sassuolo have scored 70% of their league goals in the second half this season.

Digging into further detail, the report highlighted that Inter have scored 32 of their 65 goals after the 60th minute, meaning half their goals in Serie A come in the last 30 minutes of games.

Serie A as a whole does in fact have the highest average goals per second half in all of Europe’s top five leagues this season, with 1.49 goals on average scored after half-time.

The Bundesliga is second in this curious league table with 1.48 goals, while Ligue 1 is third with 1.34 goals.

The Premier League is fourth with 1.28 goals per second half and La Liga is fifth place with just 1.23 goals.
