Inter have a lot of work still to do before they can win the Serie A title but things are starting to look good, according to the Nerazzurri’s former defender Beppe Bergomi.

Antonio Conte’s side are nine points clear at the top of the standings now, thanks to their 2-1 win at Torino on Sunday and AC Milan’s subsequent defeat at home to Napoli.

Bergomi is refusing to get carried away but the league table is giving a pretty clear picture with 11 games left.

Speaking to Radio Kiss Kiss today, the 1982 FIFA World Cup-winning defender said: “Inter have a good advantage, but until Juventus play their game in hand with Napoli I struggle to give a verdict.

“The road is still long, but the signs coming from certain wins Inter have picked up are crucial.”

Inter have had to fight tooth and nail for their last three wins in Serie A, requiring second-half goals and a late defensive rear-guard to see off Parma, Atalanta and Torino.

Romelu Lukaku scored the Nerazzurri’s opening goal from the penalty spot at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino and Bergomi thinks nobody can stop him in Italy.

“Lukaku dominates a lot in Serie A,” he added.

“He plays a lot for the team.”

Inter will look to extend their lead even further on Saturday when they welcome their bogey side Sassuolo to San Siro.
