Christian Eriksen has revealed he sought help from Inter’s city rivals AC Milan while he was getting used to life in Italy.
Eriksen gave an extended interview to Danish broadcaster TV2 Sport which was released on Monday, revealing he never wanted to ‘escape’ Inter in January.
In an extra part of the discussion which emerged tonight, the 29-year-old explained how one of his Serie A compatriots helped him adapt to his new surroundings after joining Inter from Tottenham Hotspur.
“Simon Kjaer helped me when I arrived in Italy,” Eriksen said.
“Obviously he plays for the wrong team, but most importantly he was living in the right city.
“Kjaer is someone I’ve played with for many years (in the Danish national team) and I know him very well personally off the pitch.
“Even our families are having fun together, so he helped me a lot to get used to Serie A.”
Eriksen surprised many Inter supporters last month when he gave a pitch-side interview in Italian, during the Nerazzurri’s win against Lazio.
The midfielder discussed where he was at in terms of learning the language, admitting it has not been easy to find the time.
“I can understand most things now, and obviously I know a few little words,” Eriksen added.
“Everyone talks in Italian here, so knowing the language helps me understand the coach’s tactical instructions.
“But to be honest, I haven’t practised that intensely.
“There was an interruption because of COVID-19 and I also had a small child at home, so I’ve had to combine all my commitments.”
Eriksen played a key role in Sunday’s 2-1 win at Torino, providing the pass which led to Inter’s penalty for the opening goal only minutes after coming on as a substitute.
