Inter’s win over Torino on Sunday is the sort of match that enables teams to win the Serie A title, at least in the eyes of former Nerazzurri striker Christian Vieri.

It was not a vintage performance from Inter yet they eventually managed to get the job done and came away from Turin with all three points thanks to a 2-1 win, which was secured late on thanks to a header from Lautaro Martinez.

Thanks to this result, as well as AC Milan’s loss to Napoli, Antonio Conte’s side moved nine points clear at the top of the Serie A standings with 11 games to spare in the 2020-21 season.

“It was not a good match, but it was not easy to play against Torino who defended deep and in numbers,” Vieri remarked last night during a broadcast on Bobo TV, his official Twitch channel.

“These are the sort of matches that make you win the Scudetto, Inter didn’t give up until the end.

“At 1-1 I thought it would end in a draw, but with Alexis Sanchez and Christian Eriksen on the pitch Lautaro’s winning goal arrived.”

Vieri, who spent six years with Inter and is one of the best scorers in the club’s history, went on to state that Inter deserved the win and are proving themselves to be a strong team.

“You can’t play well for 38 games in a season, but the win was completely deserved anyway,” Bobo added.

“Inter have won two games by getting their nails out and they are proving to be a strong team.”

Conte’s side will look to make it nine wins on the bounce when they welcome Sassuolo to San Siro on Saturday night.
