Denmark Boss Kasper Hjulmand: “Christian Eriksen Looking Lively & Happy Again At Inter”

Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand expects Christian Eriksen to turn up in high spirits next week following his wonderful revival at Inter.

Eriksen has been played as a mezzala of late for the Nerazzurri, a vastly different role to the one that he occupies when representing the national team, for whom he plays as a more attacking midfielder with greater freedom.

The 29-year-old has really turned things around for himself at Inter and in a press conference today, Hjulmand has admitted he is not worried about Eriksen’s change of position under Antonio Conte.

“I’m not so worried about this,” Hjulmand said.

“In fact, on the contrary, I think we are seeing a sparkling Eriksen.

“It is good that he has played even more minutes so I think we will see an Eriksen who is happy, who will return happy to the national team.”

Eriksen, who joined Inter back in January 2020 from Tottenham Hotspur, has made 24 appearances across all competitions this season, in which he has scored a single goal.

He played a key role in Sunday’s 2-1 win at Torino, coming off the bench in the second half and helping set up the penalty which allowed Romelu Lukaku to open the scoring.

Denmark are scheduled to play three 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches at the end of this month, with Hjulmand’s side due to face Israel, Moldova and Austria.
