Danilo D’Ambrosio has reassured Inter supporters he is feeling well after testing positive for COVID-19.
The defender caught the virus at some point during the last few days and was sent home before Inter’s Serie A match at Torino on Sunday, having felt slightly unwell before the game.
Inter confirmed D’Ambrosio had contracted COVID-19 in a statement this morning, reporting he was already quarantining at home.
The 32-year-old took to Instagram this afternoon and wrote on his story: “Thank you very much for the many calls and messages.
“Fortunately I feel well, I just have a bit of a fever and tiredness.
“I will stay in quarantine at home for the next few weeks, and in the meantime I’m sending everyone my affection.
“Talk soon, Danilo.”
D’Ambrosio thankfully remains the only Inter player to have tested positive, with the rest of the Nerazzurri’s first-team squad coming back negative.
Inter’s players have not had any contact with the 32-year-old since then, although the club have nonetheless activated and will continue to follow Serie A’s health protocols.
Antonio Conte will be relieved nobody else has tested positive for the virus, at least not yet, although the situation will have to remain under observation ahead of Saturday’s match against Sassuolo.
It remains to be seen whether D’Ambrosio’s positive test could have any impact on Inter’s players who have been called up for international duty.
