Inter will not receive any extra money from Paris Saint-Germain should Mauro Icardi join Juventus in the summer, according to an Italian media report today.
As per Tuttosport’s print edition, Beppe Marotta inserted a clause in the deal which sold Icardi permanently from Inter to PSG in 2020, entitling the Nerazzurri to €15 million if he was subsequently transferred to another club in Serie A.
However, this clause was only valid for the next two transfer windows – including the one he transferred in – thus meaning that the clause expired at the end of the most recent session in January.
The clause was inserted because of the apparent interest from Juventus in acquiring Icardi at the time, but with the clause having now expired, Inter would not pocket anything if the Argentine striker were to join the Bianconeri.
Icardi has drawn links to Juventus again amid uncertainty over Cristiano Ronaldo’s future in Turin, with Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane yesterday refusing to play down rumours that he could return to La Liga.
Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici made contact with Icardi’s wife and agent Wanda Nara during the summer of 2019, attempting to convince the Argentine to come to Turin.
