Inter players could be stopped from leaving Milan for national team duty, according to an Italian media report today.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition, Danilo D’Ambrosio’s positive COVID-19 test result has triggered a period of fiduciary isolation for the whole team that will last 14 days.

D’Ambrosio was confirmed as COVID-19 positive yesterday by Inter and the rapid tests that all the rest of the team were subjected to all came back negative.

The results of the molecular tests as well as other tests will be learned today and if between today and tomorrow everyone comes back negative, then Inter coach Antonio Conte will be able to breath a sigh of relief ahead of this weekend’s Serie A match against Sassuolo.

After the match versus Sassuolo the international break will begin and by Friday at the latest, Milan’s local health authority will advise Inter on how things will work with regard to national team call-ups.

It is a possibility that the players could be stopped from leaving Milan, although the report said this remained unlikely for the time being,.

It is more likely, Gazzetta reported, that things will be the same as October, wherein players had to organise private travel to and from national team duty.
