Inter have confirmed that both Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino have tested positive for COVID-19 a short time ago.

The club have confirmed the positivity of the Dutchman and Uruguayan with a statement on the official club website and they are the third and fourth players to have tested positive this week.

On Tuesday Danilo D’Ambrosio was confirmed as COVID-19 positive and yesterday club captain Samir Handanovic was confirmed as positive too.

Both de Vrij and Vecino have returned positive results as part of the latest round of testing and becoming the 12th and 13th Inter players to have contracted the virus over the course of this campaign.

Inter had nine of these 13 players test positive earlier on in the season and had next to no COVID disruption up until now at the club, aside from an outbreak in the management.

With this news, Inter will therefore be without de Vrij and Vecino in addition to D’Ambrosio and Handanovic for this weekend’s match at home to Sassuolo.
