Marseille’s new boss Jorge Sampaoli has identified Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal as a transfer priority, according to a Spanish media report.

As per AS, Sampaoli wants Marseille to make a major leap next season and he has identified the Chilean national team player as one of his key targets ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Sampaoli has in fact already contacted Vidal to test the waters and the mutual respect and close relationship that they have means the door for a reunion is very much open.

Vidal, who worked under Sampaoli when he was the Chilean national team boss, joined Inter from Barcelona last summer but has not performed as expected and could leave the club after just one year, if a good offer is made for him.

The 33-year-old, who is under contract with Inter until the end of next season, has made 30 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored two goals and provided as many assists for his teammates.

He underwent knee surgery last week and is reportedly hoping to return to action for Inter’s match against Cagliari on April 11.
