Inter’s latest COVID-19 positive test came from a member of Antonio Conte’s staff, according to a leading Italian broadcaster.

The Nerazzurri announced a short while ago that another member of their ‘team group’ had returned a positive test, without identifying the person in question.

Sky Sport Italia, via FcInterNews.it, said it was not a player who had contracted the virus on this occasion, but a member of Conte’s backroom team.

Inter now have five COVID-19 positives in total after Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan de Vrij, Matias Vecino and Samir Handanovic caught the virus earlier this week.

The outbreak in the first-team squad has led to the postponement of tomorrow’s Serie A fixture at home to Sassuolo, following an order from Milan’s local health authority.

Inter’s players have also been forbidden from travelling anywhere for 14 days, meaning they cannot join up with their national teams next week.

Conte is due to resume first-team training on Monday when Inter’s four-day suspension of footballing activities ends.
